Lowell, MA – Susu Wong, Chief Connector at Tomo360, was celebrated at the Boston LGBTQ+ Museum’s LGBT Soirée – Portraits of Pride 2025. This year’s theme, “Legacy,” spotlights individuals whose vision and activism have shaped New England’s LGBTQ+ community, and Wong’s dedication to building lasting connections truly embodies that spirit.
Wong has spent years forging partnerships across Lowell and the Merrimack Valley, bringing people together by convening gatherings of community leaders and small business owners, highlighting grassroots efforts, and amplifying underserved voices by championing LGBTQ+ causes through her roles as Board Chair of the MA LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Board Director of OUTbio. Two years ago, she and her wife, UMass Lowell Chancellor Julie Chen, launched the LGBTQ+ Fund at Greater Lowell Community Foundation, creating a permanent resource that supports local LGBTQ+ nonprofits and fuels community-driven initiatives.
“I’m deeply honored to be included among so many inspiring changemakers. This recognition isn’t just mine, it belongs to every person and organization in our community whose passion and hard work make progress possible. I’m proud to share this moment with all of you”, said Susu Wong.
The Portraits of Pride series celebrates both pioneering activists and those carrying their torch forward. Susu was one of 21 changemakers nominated this year, alongside Abe Rybeck (Founder of Theatre Offensive), Arnold Sapenter, Former Mayor Kenneth Reeves, Greg Johnson, John Ward (Founder of GLAD Law), and many more, for their outstanding contributions. Her inclusion in Portraits of Pride 2025 highlights her role in extending Lowell’s rich legacy of LGBTQ+ advocacy into Greater Lowell and underscores the ongoing impact of her community-centered leadership.
If you’re interested in viewing the Portraits of Pride 2025 exhibition, stop by The Connector at Winthrop Center Park (254 Devonshire Street, Boston, MA) between June 1 and June 30, 2025. You’ll have the opportunity to see Susu’s portrait alongside fellow honorees and celebrate their enduring impact on our community.
